Russia may introduce deductions for sports from lottery and betting activities

Oleg Kozhemyako, head of the working group for the preparation of the meeting of the presidential Council for the development of physical culture and sports, proposed to introduce deductions from lottery and betting activities in the sphere of Russian sports. He made such a proposal at a meeting of the presidential Council for the development of physical culture and sports.

“We need to send deductions to sports. First, from lottery activity. Its turnover for 2019 is 57 billion rubles. It brought 2.63 billion rubles to the budget. Secondly, from betting activities. Here, too, the amounts are impressive — in 2019, revenue amounted to 209.6 billion rubles, target deductions to sports federations — 1 billion 130 million, tax to the budget — 774 million,” Kozhemyako said.

In addition, Vladimir Putin supported the proposal of Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov to increase the amount of bookmakers ‘ target deductions for sports development by at least 2 times.
